Graph 1: Variation in pollen germination between plants for a range of varieties/species

Scores of pollen germination are: 1 = no germination, 2 = 1% to 2% germination, 3 = 3% to 10% germination, 4 = 11% to 25% germination, 5 = 26% to 50% germination, 6 = 51% to 90% germination, 7 = 91% to 100% germination. Mean = averageof a set of values, sem = 'standard error of mean' (used here to indicate variation but statistically incorrect due to arbitrary score system)

The same data is given in table 1

Scores of pollen germination are: 1 = no germination, 2 = 1% to 2% germination, 3 = 3% to 10% germination, 4 = 11% to 25% germination, 5 = 26% to 50% germination, 6 = 51% to 90% germination, 7 = 91% to 100% germination. Mean = averageof a set of values, sem = 'standard error of mean' (used here to indicate variation but statistically incorrect due to arbitrary score system)
