This pen and ink illustration shows the many limbs and appendages of a Copepod. The large antennae are used for locomotion. The limbs on the ventral side are feathered and covered with little spikes. The feathery structures are used for filtering food. At the base of these limbs are the gills. Towards the head there are many specialized legs for grasping and processing food.
