Parasorites, shell (test) of a large foraminiferan more than a millimetre in diameter. Some species of forams reach a considerable size for a single-celled organism. The largest living species has a test with a diameter of 5 centimetres. Fossil species were even bigger, to 11 centimetres. The pyramids of Egypt were made of limestone containing large forams (Nummulites).
