Super Hair Lice

 

This is a young (nymph) hair louse. It once belonged to me! It has just been doused with un-diluted insecticide shampoo. It was not affected! The reason it is walking awkwardly is because lice feet (claws) do not provide very stable points for the louse when walking on hard surfaces. They are designed to clasp hair shafts and can move at lightning speeds when crawling through the hair.
