Diatoms have beautiful glass-like houses (frustules) The cell content (chloroplast) is yellow-brown. Microscopists often remove the cell content to make nicely prepared slides of diatoms. Freshwater diatoms are interesting but in the sea they can be found in many more shapes and sizes! Read more about them in the smallest page on the web |
