    In focus:

'The secret life of plant crystals' 'Microscopic view of plant tissue reveals a hidden world of calcium oxalate crystals of diverse shapes' by Ivan Amato in Chemical and Engineering News (Feb 6, 2006 issue) with 'Botanic Crystal Fashion Show' image gallery. With thanks to Micscape contributor Élan Mikel Sudberg for drawing it to our attention and who has some images in the gallery.

Micscape contributors 1995 - 2007: We have recently just welcomed our 200th contributor since the venture began, so this is a good time to reemphasise Maurice Smith's and my very sincere thanks to everyone who has or does contribute. Although Maurice and I look after the admin of the site, without regular contributors, many of them very dedicated, the venture would not have been successful. David Walker, voluntary Micscape Editor.

New monthly feature:  Introducing 'The Adventures of Stinky and Sticky'. We don't think microscopy as a hobby should be taken too seriously, so we are delighted to welcome Jon Cantin's cartoon on the antics of these two amoeba. For a background to their characters please visit the author's website where the author also shares his other interests.

We are delighted to receive contributions small or large from microscopy enthusiasts whether a novice or expert. If you have an image, tip or article, why not share it, this magazine is what you make it! Have a chat with us, to see how we can help share your interests. Submission guidelines.
